Charles Trevino On Water Board

Charles Trevino is the West San Gabriel Valley's new Division 2 representative for the Upper San Gabriel Valley Water Board. He was elected November 4 after defeating three other candidates for the water board seat. The Upper San Gabriel Valley Water District is a little-known public agency that is a wholesaler of water to 17 cities and 22 retail water utilities in San Gabriel Valley. Trevino's district includes the cities of Rosemead, South Pasadena, Arcadia and parts of Temple City.

Trevino is not new to politics. He previously served on the Central Basin Municipal Water District board of directors in 1994. During his tenure at Central Basin, Charles served as President of the board in 1994. He subsequently was appointed to the board of directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

The water business is also not new to him. The Metropolitan Water District employs him as a Government Affairs Reprsentative. After being elected to a third term at the Central Basin, he said he had an opportunity for employment at MWD in their External Affairs Education Unit. He then resigned from the Central Basin Water Board to accept employment at MWD as a Principal Public Affairs Reprsentataive.

Trevino lives in South Pasadena and has been married for 24 years to Carmen Trevino. Their son, Eddie, attended South Pasadena Schools and is currently a college student.

Trevino has a Masters Degree in School Management and an administrative credential from San Diego's Point Loma Nazarene University. He previously worked for Los Angeles Unified as a teacher in administrator, retiring in 2002.
